The TIS PVCHECKS is designed as a comprehensive tool for carrying out quick checks and essential safety tests on photovoltaic modules, strings, and fields up to 1000V DC / 15A. According to its instruction manual, it complies with the IEC/EN62446 standard for commissioning tests and offers additional efficiency evaluation capabilities when paired with optional accessories.

Core Commissioning Functions (IEC/EN62446)

Perform essential safety and functionality tests required for PV system sign-off:

  • Continuity Test (LOWΩ): Verifies protective conductors with a test current >200mA. Includes calibration function for test leads.
  • Insulation Resistance (MΩ): Measures insulation with selectable test voltages of 250V, 500V, and 1000V DC. Offers FIELD, TIMER, and STRING modes for flexibility (STRING mode includes automatic P/N short-circuit).
  • Open Circuit Voltage (Voc): Measures Voc on modules/strings up to 1000V DC.
  • Short Circuit Current (Isc): Measures Isc on modules/strings up to 15A.
  • IVCK Quick Checks: Performs rapid verification of Voc and Isc, providing an immediate OK/NO result based on comparison with previous tests or STC values (if irradiance is measured). Can run Insulation and Continuity tests sequentially if enabled.

DC Efficiency Evaluation (Requires SOLAR-02)

  • Parameter Measurement: Measures DC Voltage, DC Current (requires optional clamp), and DC Power at the PV generator output.
  • Environmental Data: Measures irradiance (W/m²) and temperature (module and ambient) using probes connected to the optional SOLAR-02 remote unit (RF connection).
  • Efficiency Calculation (nDC): Calculates DC efficiency, applying compensation based on temperature, and provides an immediate evaluation against user-set limits. Recording of parameters is possible with programmable intervals (5s to 60min).
