The Rolec EVO ROLEC5011 is a grey, socketed smart EV charger rated up to 7.4kW on a suitable single-phase supply. Its universal Type 2 socket lets the driver select a compatible cable length for the vehicle and parking layout, then remove the cable when it is not required.

EVO supports plug-and-go, mobile-app and RFID operation. Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, together with OCPP 1.6 support, provide options for domestic control or connection to a compatible charge-point management service. Is the socketed EVO the right format?

A socketed charger keeps the front of the unit clear when no cable is connected. It also lets the buyer choose a compatible Type 2 cable to suit the required reach. The cable is separate, so it needs to be carried or stored between sessions.

Measure the intended cable route around the parked vehicle rather than only the straight-line distance. The cable should reach the vehicle inlet without tension and without crossing unsafe areas.

How do solar charging and load management work?

EVO supports surplus-solar charging and dynamic load balancing when the required sensing is installed and the charger is correctly commissioned. Solar performance depends on available generation, household demand, vehicle behaviour and the configured charging mode.

Dynamic load balancing can reduce charger demand when other property loads approach the configured supply limit. It does not increase the property's available electrical capacity.

What determines the real charging speed?

The 7.4kW figure is the charger's maximum rating. The actual rate can be lower because of supply capacity, circuit design, commissioning limits, vehicle capability, battery condition or the vehicle's own charge-management decisions.
