Pick the cable length before the colour

The Home 3 Pro is sold with 5m, 7.5m and 10m tethered Type 2 leads. All three lengths use the same verified 7.4kW, 32A single-phase platform, so the first buying decision is not which one is more powerful. It is which cable reaches the vehicle safely and comfortably in the way the driveway or garage is actually used.

Measure from the intended charger location to the vehicle inlet with the car in its normal parking position. Follow the route the cable will take rather than measuring a straight line through the car. Allow enough reach for the connector to be inserted without pulling the lead tight, but do not assume that more cable is automatically better. Extra length also means more cable to wind around the charger or store when charging finishes.

Choose the 5m Home 3 Pro for a close, repeatable parking position. Choose the 7.5m Home 3 Pro where the inlet or parking orientation needs more flexibility. This 10m model is the long-reach choice for layouts where those shorter leads do not comfortably cover the measured route.

When the 10m lead is the right choice

A 10m tethered lead can suit a charger mounted away from the usual bay, a vehicle inlet on the far side of the car, a long driveway edge or a detached garage arrangement. It can also help where more than one household vehicle parks in different orientations and both inlets need to remain reachable.

The lead is permanently attached to the charger, so it is ready to connect without retrieving a separate cable. The trade-off is storage: ten metres creates a larger coil than the shorter variants. Plan where the cable will sit when the vehicle is away and keep the route clear of doors, steps and regular pedestrian movement.

Ultra Black changes the finish, not the electrical capability. Ultra White and Space Grey 10m siblings use the same shared Home 3 Pro platform. Colour should therefore be chosen after the cable route has been resolved.

Smart charging, schedules and connectivity

The Hypervolt app provides charger control, scheduling, locking, energy information and LED settings. The unit connects through 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, with Bluetooth LE used during setup. An internal RJ45 connection also allows the installer to plan wired Ethernet where wireless coverage at the mounting position is unreliable.

Remote features depend on the charger being commissioned, connected and associated with the owner's account. The unit can still perform its core charging job, but app control, remote information and future online updates depend on suitable connectivity.

The Home 3 Pro supports Boost, Eco and Super-Eco charging modes. These modes can help the household control how grid and available self-generated energy are used, but the result depends on the property's generation, household demand, battery arrangement and correct commissioning. The charger does not guarantee a particular saving or a fixed amount of solar-only charging.

CT clamp, load management and solar measurement

A primary CT clamp is included. When it is fitted at the correct point and commissioned properly, the charger can monitor property demand for Automatic Load Management and identify solar export for the relevant charging modes.

Automatic Load Management can reduce charging demand when the property is approaching its configured supply limit, then increase it again as other loads fall. This does not remove the installer's responsibility to assess the incoming supply and design the final circuit.

Some battery-storage arrangements can involve a second CT, but that is a specialist configuration rather than a standard add-on for every installation. Battery and inverter topology must be checked before specifying additional monitoring parts.

What the installer needs to design

The Home 3 Pro is rated for a 230V AC, 50Hz single-phase supply with output up to 7.4kW and 32A. The achieved charging rate can be limited by the vehicle, the supply and the completed electrical installation.

The charger includes internal 6mA DC residual-current detection and integrated PEN fault protection. External AC residual-current protection and external overcurrent protection are still required. The installer selects the final protective-device arrangement, supply cable, containment, isolation, cable entry and CT route for the property; the product description does not replace that design process.

The enclosure is rated IP66 and IK10. It can be wall or pole mounted, provided the selected mounting method and cable entries maintain the enclosure protection. The unit measures 328mm high, 243mm wide and 101mm deep.

Warranty and handover

The Home 3 Pro carries a three-year manufacturer warranty subject to Hypervolt's current terms. Hypervolt's installation guidance requires the completed installation to be registered within 48 hours to validate the warranty. The installer should complete testing, commissioning and owner handover before leaving the site.

Why buy the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro from LAMPS?

LAMPS supplies homeowners, electricians and EV installers through established electrical-wholesale branches and trade counters. Customers can call 01844 393939 to discuss product choice, project quantities and related electrical materials. Collection can be arranged through the LAMPS branch network where suitable.

That support does not replace the installer's design responsibility, but it gives the buyer a practical supply route backed by teams who work with electrical products and trade customers every day. View the LAMPS branch locations or browse the Hypervolt charger range.

Common questions

Should I choose the 5m, 7.5m or 10m Hypervolt?

Measure the practical route between the planned charger position and the vehicle inlet with the car parked normally. Choose the shortest cable that reaches comfortably without being pulled tight. The 10m version is for genuinely long or offset routes and creates more cable to store than the shorter models.

Is a CT clamp included?

Yes. A primary CT clamp is included for the property-load and solar-export measurements used by the charger's load-management and solar-aware functions when correctly installed.

Does the Home 3 Pro need Wi-Fi?

The charger supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi for connected features and Bluetooth LE for setup. A wired Ethernet option is also available internally. Network quality should be checked at the mounting position during planning.

Is the charger suitable for outdoor mounting?

The enclosure is rated IP66 and IK10. The installer must use suitable entries and mounting methods so the completed installation maintains the enclosure protection.

What protection must be installed externally?

The unit includes 6mA DC detection and PEN fault protection, but external AC residual-current protection and overcurrent protection are still required. The installer determines the correct final arrangement for the property and circuit.

Does the Home 3 Pro support vehicle-to-home charging?

No. The Home 3 Pro is not specified for vehicle-to-home operation.
